60th Annual Valkyrie Race: Peeples and Hansen Place 1st & 2nd

The 60th Running of the Trinity –Sacred Heart Cross Country meet held at Tom Sawyer State Park saw an incredible amount of runners from teams throughout the Ohio Valley (Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Illinois, West Virginia, and Texas). The meet has been rich with tradition that the meet director, Chad Waggoner of Trinity added a seeded varsity race in order to accommodate more teams. The Bowling Green lady Purples placed 4th out of the 37 teams in the Girls Varsity division. Madison Peoples won the race (19:05) and teammate Britney Hansen finished in 2nd (19:35). Sammantha Sutton placed 23rd (21:08), Sallie Sutton finished 54th (22:10) and Kristen Dent rounded out the scoring finishing at 58th place (22:15). There were 203 runners in the race. The Boys placed 22 out of 36 teams. Trajon Hall finished 16th out of 238 runners (16:59).

Central Hardin hosted the Fairgrounds Frenzy. 15 teams competed in the annual cross country meet. Meade County won the girls division led by Jenna Shereyk (20:31). Barren County finished 3rd. Leah Jessee led her team placing 3rd with a time of 21:00, Kirsten Thomerson finished 14th (22:24)Keyla Roeder placed 17th (22:37) and taylor Davis finished 42nd (24:31). Grayson County placed 6th and were led by Hailey Stallings 2nd place finish (20:53), Heather Priddy placed 18th (22:45), and Morgan Kamapel finished 26th (23:21). Glasgow finished 8th. However it should be noted that their lead runner (Rebekah Howard) was participating in the Trinity Sacred Heart Middle School division at Tome Sawyer State park. She finished with a time of 11:17 in a 3K that was good enough for 3rd place out of 167 runners. The Lady Scotties were led by Faylee Brown’s 23rd finish (23:10), Autumn Copass placed 30th (23:40), Acey Page finished 55th (25:23), Samantha Stone placed 56th (25:23) and Maddy Hutton’s 60th place finish (25:35). The Boys race was led by Barren County’s 4th place finish, Barren County – 7th place, Allen County – 9th place, and Glasgow – 13th place team placements. Eli Thoma of Grayson finished 14th (18:22), Brandon Reed of Barren County finished 17th (18:32), Noah Saltsman of Grayson County placed 20th (18:53), James Estes of Allen County finished 23rd (19:03), Luke Weedman of Grayson County finished 30th (19:15), and Chase Waters of Allen County placed 32nd (19:18).
