The Case for Adair County!

                                                                       The Case for Adair County!

In the realm of the 5th Region elite, Adair County has been a major power player for several seasons. Their last Region title was back in 2009 after an exciting overtime win over powerful North Hardin at Marion County. 0E1A0890 (2)

Before that it was 2007 over an equally talented John Hardin team which had recently been the Region Champions. Unfortunately since then head coach Nick Fudge saw an absence from the Region final as Taylor County suddenly became the new 20th District power. Fudge stepped down two seasons ago, but it may appear as if the Indians may be ready to assume their place among the Region’s elite again. 0E1A0907

This season, Adair County easily has the best record in the 5th Region with 21-wins over just one loss. That loss being a three point setback against Collins in the Warren East Holiday Classic back in December. This year’s team has a nice blend of youth and experience in senior guard Kel Stotts (469-points), senior Chance Melton (357-points), senior Cameron Lasley (329-points – 189-rebounds) and junior Corey Melton (474-points). This year’s version, the same team which lost to Marion County in the 20th District Tournament last season has a good blend of talent and efficiency.

Against Central Hardin, they were nip and tuck in the first quarter until Corey Melton exploded for seven made three’s and the Indians scored 23 and 28 points in the second and third quarters in an eventual 77-53 win. Brother Chance came up with 17-points and Adair County outrebounded the Bruins 40-31. 0E1A1144

That’s pretty much what they do best. Just simply finding a way to win. In the Bluegrass Cellular Tournament in early January, Adair overcame a 17-points deficit to beat North Hardin 81-76. Can the Indians do this in March during the Region Tournament? The question will remain that until March, but regardless, the Indians just keep rolling on.
