Purples’ All-Stars head to Best of the Bluegrass

After three undefeated seasons and three state titles, the Bowling Green Purples will be sending six players to the Best of the Bluegrass All-Star Game in Louisville. Former Purples Jake Mills, Lincoln Quick, Nacarius Fant, Devin Hayes, Will Jenkins, and Blue Tisdale were all selected to play this Sunday at St. Xavier.

Three of the team’s offensive stars were selected for the game. Mr. Football candidates Hayes and Fant were both picked, and dominate running back Blue Tisdale was as well. Hayes had one of the most accurate seasons in KHSAA history, completing 70% of his passes for 43 touchdowns. On the receiving end of 20 of Hayes’ touchdowns was Fant. The 2013 season brought incredible success for the Purples’ receiver. Fant caught 83 passes for 1,701 yards to go along with 582 return yards. When Hayes wasn’t throwing to Fant, he was handing the ball off to Tisdale. The running attack for BGHS was paced by Tisdale, who ran for over a thousand yards for the second consecutive season. Tisdale also caught five receiving touchdowns, which added to his impressive 24 rushing touchdowns.

Behind every great offense, there is a great offensive line. The Purples o-line was led by Jake Mills and Will Jenkins. Both players will show their talents in the Best of the Bluegrass, an opportunity that they may have not received to this point. Bowling Green is stacked with talent at the skill positions, so these two players will get a chance to display their skills against some of the best defensive lineman in Kentucky.

On the defensive side of the ball, BGHS is represented by Lincoln Quick. The linebacker finished with 98 total tackles in his senior season, he also recovered two fumbles.

Out of this group, Fant (WKU) is the only player to decide on his collegiate future. The remaining five will put their talents on display in the All-Star game to hopefully impress scouts, and receive college offers.
