2021 Basketball Preview: LaRue County Hawks

                  LaRue County Hawks: 2020 Record 18-3

After replacing four quality scorers from the previous season, the Hawks with 18-wins and had a legitimate chance to knock off John Hardin in the final seconds before falling by two points in the first round of the Region Tournament. This season, coach Paul Childress returns most of their starting squad including one of the dynamic players in the Region in Cutter Boley (238-points), who can shoot from the outside and rebound as well. The sophomore will be joined by junior Carson Childress, who led the team in made three pointers (47) and senior Kellen Bowen, who was the fourth leading scorer on the team and second-best rebounder.

                 LaRue County Lady Hawks: 2020 Record 8-13

After taking over for departed coach James Slaven, Danielle Brown’s team struggled through injuries and a tough schedule with little height and inconsistent play, but she they did show fight in every game and always put forth a superior effort no matter what the odds which is why she came into the new season with a smile despite graduating three seniors. The Lady Hawks will return their top scorer in senior Natalie Gentry (220-points), second leading scorer senior Maleah English, the team’s top outside shooter in senior Paige Evans and sophomore Katelyn Williams.
