2022 5th Region Soccer Preview

Elizabethtown Panthers (22-4-3)- Head coach Corey Yates had another successful season for the Panthers and after a Final Four appearance, they still look to be the favorite to repeat and possibly pull off a 5-Peat, which is unheard of in this region where change is the norm. Yates lost several important seniors and one that transferred, but this still looks to be a strong team with Cole Varela (32-goals/20-assists) returning. Sophomore Kobe Ryan, who had 6-goals/ 14-assists is back as is senior Aaron Silva, who looks to have a big year. Goalkeeper Jackson Holt is gone, but Camden Rich could step in and contribute more.

Central Hardin Bruins (10-12-1)- Jaymes Valera had another great season and managed to return to the Region Tournament again, but he has some holes to fill if they are to return. Senior Micah Brown (8-goals/6-assists) is back, but the other two top scorers Corbin Durrance and Westin Bowman are gone. In all, the Bruins lost nine seniors and will look a little different when the season opens. Goalkeeper Nick Steele is also gone so Ayden Allen may get the call this season.

North Hardin Trojans (13-6-2)- Longtime head coach Jim Stone lost five seniors including leading scorer Cayden Logsdon (19-goals), but he feels very confident coming into this season as he returns a very strong team. Rakai Handley (9-goals/3-assists), Braedon Herron (6-goals/6-assists), Harold Rugama (6-goals-2-assists) and Joshua Burns (4-goals) are back. Stone will get a boost with Phil Murrell and Jabari Rasheed back at full strength as well. Goalkeeper Joseph Stankovich, who had 70-saves will man the goal and the defense which allowed just 25-goals should be strong again.

Thomas Nelson Generals (17-5-1)- After knocking on the door several seasons, Thomas Nelson finally made a power move to the Final, but if they are to return, they must get some help with Isaac Reinle (35-goals/15-assists) gone. Bryce Faulkner is back (15-goals/5-assists) as Gannon Mattingly and Donovan Willis are also gone. Of the nine seniors lost, Goalkeeper Jaidyn Sims was one (227-saves), so Jacob Smith could get plenty of time there.

Bethlehem Eagles (14-6-3)- Head coach Kelly Harrison got the Eagles back to the Region Tournament and for a return trip they must replace their two scorers, but they do have quite a few starters left. Ike Hahn-Hibbs, Matthew Jones and Aiden Schrenger are back.
