- Barren County 11-5 1
Outlook: Barren County has righted the ship, winning four games in a row by an average of 11 points per game. All four victories were over 4th Region foes. Raven Ennis continues to lead the charge as the junior is averaging 16.5 point per game. Fellow junior Addison London has made 21 three-pointers this season as well. Katie Murphy is currently second on the team in scoring (6.4) and rebounding (4.0). The Trojanettes do not return to the hardwood until February 23 when they host Franklin-Simpson.
2. Bowling Green 8-6 2
Outlook: The Lady Purples strung together three wins in a row last week by an average margin of 34.3 points. LynKaylah James led the team in scoring with 24 points against Russellville, before Meadow Tisdale scored 19 and 30 against South Warren and Ohio County respectively. Payton Briley knocked down five three-pointers in the victory over the Lady Spartans. The Lady Purples are scheduled to play Christian County, Hopkinsville, and Manual this week.
3. Greenwood 6-2 3
Outlook: Greenwood lost to Apollo in its only game of Week 6. Its next scheduled game is on Thursday evening at Warren Central. This meeting will play a major factor in deciding district tournament seeding. Junior center Olivia Lovell is now the team’s second-leading rebounder at 5.4 rebounds per game.
4. Warren Central 5-5 4
Outlook: Warren Central has lost four of five games against tough competition, including three losses by a combined 12 points. Coach Anthony Hickey and his club will look to get back on track in a big district game with Greenwood on Thursday night. Senior Kyleigh Ray has become a reliable rebounder in the post, as she is grabbing 8.4 rebounds per game. She grabbed 15 in a game against Grayson County two weeks ago.
5. Metcalfe County 7-4 5
Outlook: Metcalfe County dropped both of its games in Week 6 but are still holding on to the fifth spot in our power rankings. The Lady Hornets travel this week to Richmond for the All A State Tournament. Snow and ice is subject to change the schedule; however, at the moment, coach Tiffany Coffey’s club is scheduled to play Danville on Wednesday at 11AM CST.
6. Franklin-Simpson 8-5 10
Outlook: The Lady Wildcats found their groove over the last two weeks, winning five out of six games since the calendar turned to February. Two major reasons why are the outstanding play of Kate Norwood and Alera Barbee. The combo is averaging nearly 30 points per game combined. Franklin-Simpson will host Todd County Central in a district game on Friday, before traveling up 31W for a showdown with South Warren on Saturday evening.
7. South Warren 5-7 7
Outlook: The Lady Spartans saw their three-game win streak snapped after suffering losses to Greenwood and Bowling Green. South nearly sprung the upset over the Lady Gators, mounting a comeback that came up just short. Carrie Enlow has been a do-it-all player for the Lady Spartans, ranking within the top three in virtually every statistical category. The junior is ranked third on the team in scoring (8.6), second in field goal percentage (40.3%), first in three-point field goal percentage (37%), second in free throw percentage (77.8%), and third in rebounding (4.1). Coach Lane Embry and his coaching staff will look for Enlow to help their team in three games this week against AC-S (Tuesday), Warren East (Friday), and Franklin-Simpson (Saturday).
8. Monroe County 6-5 6
Outlook: Monroe County lost both of its games in Week 6. Gracie Veach led the team in scoring in both losses, scoring 14 points against Cumberland County and 21 points against Barren County. Coach Clifton Hamilton’s team will look to get back into the winner’s circle this week with games at Glasgow and Clinton County, as well as a home meeting with Metcalfe County.
9. Russell County 8-9 NR
Outlook: The Lady Lakers lost six-straight games between January 21 and February 2. However, a return to form has seen coach Brett Blankenship’s club win four out of its last five games to improve its record to 8-9. Star Marcum and Juliah Bault have figured out how to balance each other nicely, regularly leading the team in scoring on a nightly basis. Russell County has two district games scheduled for Week 7: a home game with Cumberland County on Tuesday and a road matchup at Metcalfe County on Friday.
10. Clinton County 6-5 NR
Outlook: The Lady Bulldogs have had five-consecutive games postponed due to COVID-19. However, the program is due to return to the hardwood on Thursday against Adair County before hosting Monroe County on Friday evening. Braylee Mann is averaging 14.6 points per game, while teammate Landree Moons is scoring 11.5 points per contest.
