5th Region Softball Tournament
Well the field has been set for this Monday at Central Hardin with action beginning at 12:00pm. Here is the schedule for games starting at noon.
Central Hardin vs. Taylor County 12.00
Washington County vs. Green County 2:00
Hart County vs. Bethlehem 4:00
Marion County vs. North Hardin 6:00
The most intriguing matchup might be the first one. Taylor County has lost to Central Hardin three times in a row at the Region Tournament including the championship game in 2015, but two of those games weren’t decided until the last at bat including last year. Although the Lady Bruins won going away during there regular season meeting this year anything could happen if Taylor County can keep the game close.
Washington County was the surprise team last season making a Region for there first time EVER and playing in the Final to boot. This season they may face their toughest first game EVER when they go up against Green County. The Lady Dragons. like Central Hardin are a dangerous team hitting home runs by the bunches and whoever gets past this game will run smack dab right into the face of the Lady Bruins if they survive their first match against nemesis Taylor County.
Hart County faces Bethlehem on the other side of the bracket and the Lady Raiders, next to Central Hardin are the HOTTEST team in the Region winning their District Semi-Final and Final in the same night. The Lady Banshees will have to find a way to slow Hart County down and not allow Katie Collins to get into a comfort zone early other wise it could be a long day for Shaun Smith and the Lady Banshees.
North Hardin goes against Marion County in the nightcap and although they were manhandled in the District Final by Central Hardin, the Lady Trojans are a pleasant surprise playing inspired and energetic all season with a blend of youth and experience. 
Looking Ahead. Probably the most watched for rematch could be Central Hardin vs. Green County in the semi’s. Both teams are talented and have no fear or playing each other. They both have solid pitching and can hit a ton so there could be plenty of balls leaving the park. Also, Green County is still smarting from a one run loss they suffered to the Lady Bruins in their early regular season match.
What could change that is two teams. Taylor County and Washington County.
Also, there is the possibility of a Green County vs. Hart County Final if everything swings right (or wrong). Although Green County has been the talk of the Region (like Central Hardin), Hart County already owns two wins over the Lady Dragons.
Finally, since 2005, only twice has the team hosting the Region Tournament ever won it (2005 LaRue County 2009 North Hardin). Usually, the best team wins, but that can change with a bad pitch, dropped ball or a blown third base call.
So LADIES START YOUR ENGINES!!!! Let the Games BEGIN!!!!
