5th Region State Softball Preview!
Now the fun begins. 5th Region Central Hardin will begin action against 4th Region South Warren at 5:00 Owensboro time in round one of the KHSAA State Tournament. The Lady Bruins are 3-time Region Champions and are making their seventh trip (a region record) to the state tournament and are a powerful team which lives by the long ball, but can beat you with speed and being opportunistic.
They have outscored their opponents 351 to 100. They are doing it with a relatively young pitching staff (sophomore Kaci Goedde has the most playoff experience) and a bunch of youngsters at key positions. The Lady Bruins also want to improve on their 8-12 record at state in six trips. 4th Region representative South Warren will be back for the second straight season and wants BADLY to make up for an 0-2 trip last year at Owensboro. After going 32-3 and pulling off dramatic 3-2 win in the 4th Region Final against Warren East, the Spartans will face one of the most dangerous batting lineups in the state in Central Hardin. Should be an interesting game where as the winner gets the pleasure of facing the winner of Collins – East Carter in the opposite bracket and their superstar pitcher Montana Fouts.
