“Controlled Chaos” Pushes Purples to Season Opening Win

With much anticipation and lofty expectations ahead of them, the Purples basketball squad took to the floor in Scottsville to open up their season. They would be missing a couple of players, as they are still working toward a state football title, but everyone who made the trip saw the floor in tonight’s game.

The teams would trade baskets early in the game, but an 11 to 3 run to end the first put Bowling Green up 17-9. The Purples utilized the full court press in the second quarter, puzzling the Patriot guards, leading to several turnovers. Bowling Green would go on a 19 point run through most of the second quarter, and would head into the half up big 42-20. We got to see some of the young guys and some new faces for Bowling Green through most of the second half, as the Purples outpaced ACS in the second half as well, cruising to a 76-45 victory. Terry Taylor was named our player of the game with 17 points to lead the way for Bowling Green. It was a balanced offensive attack for the Purples, as newcomer Thomas Booker had 16, Kyran Jones 14, and Perry Ayers also reached double figures with 13.

No rest for the Purples this week, as we head to Benton, Kentucky for the Marshall County Hoopfest tomorrow night! Purples take on a sizable Graves County team in the final game of the night, and you can catch it live here at SportingTimesMagazine.com!
