FINALISTS NAMED FOR 2015 GENERAL DENNIS D. CAVIN
YOUTH PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Five Elite players make final nominee list
ROCKAWAY, N.J. (December 2, 2015) – The Football University (FBU) Youth All-American Bowl Selection Committee has narrowed down its list of nominees to five finalists for the prestigious 2015 General Dennis D. Cavin Youth Player of the Year Award. The General Dennis D. Cavin Youth Player of the Year Award is given to the Nation’s most outstanding youth football player. Named after one of the instrumental persons in the creation of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, General Dennis D. Cavin has been a longtime supporter of developing young men through the game of football. The General Dennis D. Cavin Youth Player of the Year Award will be recognized during FBU Youth All-American Bowl week and presented with a trophy on January 8th in San Antonio.
“The nominated players exhibit exemplary direction as they transition from their youth football careers to high school,” said Erik Richards, National Recruiting Director. “Their proven leadership defines the award. The character traits General Cavin displayed throughout his career are a proven guide for these young men to continue.”
Class of 2019 phenom JT Daniels from Mater Dei High School walked away with the honor last year. Past recipients include Sony Michel (University of Georgia), DeMatha High School’s Shane Simmons (Penn State commit) and Dylan Moses (LSU commit), the #1 overall player in the Class of 2017 according to 247Sports.
The five finalists for the 2015 General Dennis D. Cavin Youth Player of the Year Award are:
Harrison Bailey, Quarterback, Hillgrove Middle School, Powder Springs, GA
Through eight games, Bailey had 1,667 yards passing and 1,207 yards rushing for 39 total touchdowns. He led his team to the 2015 Georgia Middle School championship. Harrison is a two-time FBU Youth All-American.
Jordan Cash, Athlete, Carver Middle School, Delray Beach, FL
A two-time FBU Youth All-American, Cash recorded 39 receptions and 17 all-purpose touchdowns during his season with the Fort Lauderdale Hurricanes. He was second on the team in tackles and led the Hurricanes to the Florida Youth Football League state championship. Jordan is a two-time FBU Youth All-American.
Cody Crist, Linebacker/Running Back, Wilson Middle School, Plano, TX
Cody is a member of the back-to-back North Texas FBU National Championship team. On the offensive side of the ball, he had 80 carries for 21 touchdowns and 1,478 yards in a seven-game schedule, and also led the team in tackles. He recorded a 4.51 forty yard dash at the Next Gen combine series.
Vito Tisdale, Linebacker/Running Back, Bowling Green Middle School, Bowling Green, KY
Playing for Bowling Green Middle School, Tisdale had 118 carries for 2,030 yards. He also racked up 107 tackles for the state runner-up in Kentucky. Vito is also a two-time FBU Youth All-American.
Bryce Young, Quarterback, Inland Empire Ducks, Pasadena, CA
Young played for the Inland Empire Ducks and passed for over 3,100 yards. He also contributed 800 yards rushing and 15 touchdowns on the ground. Young threw only one interception the entire 2015 season. The Ducks were the American Youth Football (AYF) National Champions in 2014.
Now in its seventh year, the FBU Youth All-American Bowl pits the country’s top 7th and 8th grade football talent against each other in an East versus West format all-star games taking place on Saturday, January 9th in San Antonio, Texas. These games have seen outstanding talent come through its ranks, including current college talents Sony Michel (University of Georgia), Samaje Perine (University of Oklahoma), Christian McCaffrey (Stanford University), Dante Sawyer (University of South Carolina), Trenton Irwin (Stanford University) and Jarrett Stidham (Baylor University) just to name a few.
