Raiders Flex Muscle In 14th District Opener Move to 4-1

The Raiders (3-1) came into this first District matchup at South Warren (2-2) with a bounce back win mentality on their minds. This game would prove to be fast – paced and hard – fought all night long! The first quarter saw a tie thanks to 7 early points from Mackenzie Strange for Warren East.

The second quarter the Raiders really started to run and convert points off turnovers. Warren East outscored the Spartans 22-14 to head into the half up 34-26. Khalil Britt contributed a lot to this adding 9 points in the quarter, while the Spartans just tried to keep up with balanced ball. The second half would continue to go the Raiders way. Kaleb Britt finally got going in the third quarter with 10 points.

The Spartans got 7 from Dylan Beckham, but that was about it. The Raiders went into the final quarter up 55-45. Mackenzie Strange would come back around to finish the game like he started, giving this team a spark on offense and defense. He added 9 fourth quarter points, while Kaleb Britt added 7 to allow the Raiders to pull away late and win 80-65. Brandon Stacker would finally come on to score 12 in the final quarter. Fundamentals and high offensive efficiency was the difference for the Raiders tonight. The Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game goes to Mackenzie Strange with 25 points, several steals, and several rebounds. Warren East (4-1, 1-0 District) looks to keep it rolling tomorrow night back at home versus Allen – County – Scottsville at 6:30. Listen live at the sportingtimesmagazine.com!
