Bowling Green hosted Henderson County Friday night in a battle of two big name Kentucky basketball programs. Led by Thomas Booker and Terry Taylor, the Purples dominated the Colonels in the 1st half and cruised to a 66-45 victory.
Bowling Green’s full court press caused problems for the Colonels offense, allowing only one field goal in the 1st half. After just one quarter, the Purples had already jumped out to a 21-2 lead. The Purples forced multiple turnovers which led to Bowling Green points at the other end. The Colonels didn’t convert a field goal until the final seconds of the 2nd quarter.
The Purples led 36-7 at the half.
In the second half, Bowling Green Head Coach D.G. Sherrill went deep into the bench to get the young guys experience. Ten different Purples scored points. The Purples led 51-22 after the 3rd quarter and finally defeated the Colonels by a final score of 66-45.
Thomas Booker was named the player of the game, scoring 13 points, grabbing multiple rebounds and forcing several turnovers. Terry Taylor added 17 and Kyran Jones added 14 as well. The Purples are back in action tomorrow as they travel to Hopkinsville.
