Purples Falter Late in First Round of King of the Bluegrass

Heading into the Holiday season, the Purples traveled up to Fairdale to take part in the King of the Bluegrass, one of the top holiday tournaments in the state of Kentucky.  As a top rated team in the state, many thought the Purples had a shot to make a long run in the KOB, but their run would be cut short on Friday night.

After jumping out to an early eight point lead, the Purples started to be a little hesitant on offense, and Fern Creek would claw their way back into it, making it a one point game at the end of the first quarter.  The Tigers would carry that momentum into the second, where they outscored BG 18-8 to take a nine point lead into the break.  But the third quarter would belong to the Purples, and after a DeAngelo Wilson three, followed by a steal and a Terry Taylor tip in, the Purples were back on top to start the fourth quarter.  Fern Creek would have all the answers in the fourth, and costly turnovers put the Purples in a hole late.  The Tiger would make their free throws late, and seal a victory 59-47.  Terry Taylor led all Purples with 12 points.  Perry Ayers had 11, and DeAngelo Wilson finished with 10.
Can the Purples get back on the right track at the King of the Bluegrass?  It won’t be easy, as they face Ballard on Monday night.  Join us at SportingTimesMagazine.com for all the action!
