Satterfield Leads Raiders with 21, Fall Short Against Rival Dragons

The Lady Raiders were still looking for their first win of the season Friday night in a crosstown district rival matchup at home versus Warren Central. The game would not start out the way Warren East wanted it to. The Lady Raiders were shut out in the first quarter, trailed by 18. Tia Barnett led the way for Warren Central with 10 early points. The second quarter was not much better for the Lady Raiders, as they were outscored 11-8 to trail 29-8 at the half. Baylen Wardlow had 4 points at the half for the Lady Raiders; Barnett had 12. Warren East would get outscored 35-24 in the second half to lose the game 64-32. Warren East was led by the Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game Cailyn Howard with 8 points. The Lady Dragons were led by Barnett with 25. Warren East (0-10, 0-2 district) will be back at home on Tuesday against Barren County at 6. The Raiders looked to start of the new year with a district win at home versus Warren Central. The crosstown rival matchup was set to be a good one, and it was for a long time. The Raiders would outscore the Dragons 17-14 in the first quarter; thanks in large part to 5 forced turnovers and three 3 pointers. The second quarter would sway the Dragons way thanks to the horse in the middle Darrell Bowman. He scored 7 in the quarter to give Warren Central the halftime lead at 39-34. Patrick Satterfield had 12 to lead the Raiders at the half. In the second half the Raiders had a hard time stopping Bowman. Warren East also missed half of their free throws. This ultimately led to their 82-67 loss Friday night. Warren East outscored the Dragons 21-18 in the third but got outscored 25-12 in the fourth. Warren Central was led by Bowman with 32 points. The Raiders were led by the Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game Patrick Satterfield; who scored 21 points, recorded 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
