Britt’s 25 Leads Raiders to OT Win

The Raiders looked to rebound from their tough loss against Daviess County last Tuesday. This Tuesday night showdown would be at home against Edmonson County on Hall of Fame night (athlete alumni were recognized for their athletic achievements at halftime). This game would be a thriller from start to finish. The first quarter saw Warren East outscore Edmonson County 21-17 thanks to five forced turnovers and 7 early points from Mackenzie Strange. In the second quarter the Raiders would once again outscore the Wildcats 21-20 to take a 42-37 lead into the half. Kaleb Britt led the way for the Raiders with 12. Bailey Board and Caleb Skaggs led the Wildcats with 10 each. The second half would continue to be just as competitive.
Edmonson County got some offense going and outscored the Raiders 22-17 in the third quarter to tie the game up at 59-59 after three. The fourth quarter was back and forth, and Warren East made one incredible comeback at the end, down by 7 with less than a minute to go in the game. Adante Barber hit a big corner 3 with 25 seconds left to cut the Raiders deficit to 2. Then after 2 missed free throws at the other end, Jacob Howard got fouled with 14 seconds left and made both free throws to tie the game at 79-79. Warren East defended great, got a steal, and had a chance to win it with a 10 feet jump shot from Kaleb Britt with 3 seconds left that just fell short, sending the game into overtime. In overtime, Warren East outscored Edmonson County 10-7 to win the game 89-86 in overtime. Kaleb Britt led Warren East with 25 points. Bailey Board led the Wildcats with 19. Cellular Player of the Game for the Raiders with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Warren East (11-8, 2-1 district) will travel across town to Greenwood Friday night for a rematch with the district rival Gators at 7:30.
