Raiders Fall in final Seconds, Lady Raiders struggles continue

The Raiders tried to snap a two game losing streak Tuesday night as they welcomed in South Warren. The game would be back and forth throughout, and have one thrilling ending. The Raiders got outscored in the first quarter 15-12. The second quarter went Warren Easts’ way, outscoring South Warren 19-16 to tie the game up at halftime 31-31. Kaleb Britt led the way for Warren East with 13 points. Brandon Stacker led the way for the Spartans with 14. The second half would be much of the same, a chess match until the clock hit 0. The Raiders outscored the Spartans 19-14 in the third, forcing 5 turnovers and having a balanced offense. The end of the fourth quarter is where things got juicy. With Warren East up by 1 with 7 seconds to go, the Spartans drove the length of the court and Dayton Gumm got fouled with 1 second left to shoot in the double bonus (two free throws) to win the game for South Warren. He sinked both free throws and Warren East fell in heartbreaking fashion 60-59. South Warren was led by Brandon Stacker with 22 points. Warren East was led by Kaleb Britt with 22 points. Logan Carter was the Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game for the Raiders with 11 points, making three 3 pointers. Warren East (13-11, 3-3 district) will travel to Bowling Green Friday night to take on the mighty Purples at 7:30. The Lady Raiders looked to win their second straight game at home Tuesday night against the tough Lady Spartans from South Warren. Warren East would have their hands full once again, and be in for a long night. South Warren outscored Warren East 47-15 in the first half, thanks to 8 3 pointers. Baylen Wardlow led the Lady Raiders with 5 points. Amaya Lasley led the Lady Spartans with 11 points. The second half would only get worse for Warren East, as they got outscored 30-13 to lose the game 77-28. The Lady Raiders turned the ball over 24 times. South Warren was led by Amaya Lasley with 15 points. Warren East was led by Baylen Wardlow with 9 points (Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game). The Lady Raiders (2-18, 0-7 district) will travel to Bowling Green Friday night at 6 in an even tougher district matchup.
