Bowling Green Ruins Russellville Senior Night with 2 Big Wins

To close out the regular season, the Lady Purples traveled up to Russellville.  They would make quick work of the Lady Panthers, using their full court press to take a huge lead in the first 30-7.  With their top scorer on the bench due to foul trouble, Bowling Green slowly pulled away in the second, with 3 Lady Purples individually competing with Russellville  as a team when it came to scoring.  After the first basket of the third, Bowling Green enjoyed the running clock for the remainder of the game, and cruised to a 69-27 victory.  Keely Morrow led the way with 20 points.  Matthews and Mimms had 14 a piece.

The Purples had one final hurdle before finishing the season perfect in Region play. The Purples traveled to Russellville in a contest between the #1 team and the #4 team in the region. The Purples proved they were still the team to beat in the Region, running away from Russellville by a final score of 76-55.
The Panthers jumped out to an early 7-3 lead as Pedro Bradshaw scored 5 early points. The Purples ended the first period on a run and led 17-11 after 1 quarter. The Bowling Green’s defense began to take over as the Purples forced several turnovers in the 2nd quarter. The Purples led 38-27 at the half.
Bowling Green’s defense continued to dominate as Russellville’s guards struggled. The turnovers continued for the Panthers as Bowling Green extended the lead to 61-40 after three quarters. Finally, the Purples ended victorious by a final score of 76-55.
Kyran Jones led the Purples with 21 points and was named the Player of the Game. The Purples improve to 24-2(8-0 district) and will host Hopkinsville Thursday night in the season finale.
