Lady Purples Come Out Shooting, but Fall Short at Sweet 16

The Lady Purples ventured up to Northern Kentucky to represent the 4th region in the Sweet 16 on Thursday afternoon.  It was not an easy draw for Bowling Green, as the faced the number two team in the state in the Butler Bearettes.

Keely Morrow came out firing for Bowling Green, knocking down her first few shots and helping the Lady Purples jump out to an early 10-2 lead.  But Butler was able to get a spark off the bench, and not only narrowed the gap, but took the lead by the end of the first.  Rebounding was a huge part of this game, and the Bearettes dominated that category, getting several second chance points.  Bowling Green shot well from the field though, and was able to keep it close at the half 30-33.  Unfortunately for the Lady Purples, the rebounding woes would continue, and Butler would make their presence felt from the inside, outscoring BG in the paint 42-18.  The Bearettes would pull away in the fourth quarter, and the Lady Purples season would come to an end via a 52-64 defeat in the first round.  Keely Morrow led Bowling Green in scoring with 18 points.  Oneisha Turner had 16 in her final game as a Lady Purple.
