A Little Closer than Last Year, but Purples Advance Past Elliott County

The goal all season for the Purples was to return to Rupp Arena and compete for the State Title.  On Wednesday, Bowling Green started their run in Rupp the same way they did last year, taking on Elliott County.  The Lions, victors from the 16th Region, looked to fair a little better than the blowout loss they suffered last year.
We would trade baskets throughout the first quarter, with Elliott County taking the lead about midway through.  But Bowling Green would score the last four points of the quarter, and start the second with the first eight, giving them their largest lead to that point in the game.  Another 9-2 run in the second would give the Purples a cushion, and BG led 38-29 at the break.  Bowling Green would maintain their lead throughout the rest of the game, as the zoned in the fourth quarter to a 75-59 victory.  Terry Taylor, who nearly had a double double in the first half, finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds to be our Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game.
The Purples will be in action again Friday afternoon, as they take on Paul Lawrence Dunbar, who survived Mercer County Wednesday night. Tip off is scheduled for 1:30 ET/12:30 CT, so be sure to join us on SportingTimesMagazine.com!
