South Warren looks to keep unscathed record alive against Central Hardin

In just seven full seasons as a program, South Warren has had great success against Class 6A Central Hardin.

The Spartans and the Bruins have met just twice in the two teams’ history, with South winning both meetings. The Spartans won 24-3 in 2015 and took a 27-20 victory in last season’s meeting.

The two sides will meet for the third time on Friday night when Central Hardin plays host to the Spartans at 7 p.m. (CT) in Elizabethtown.

South Warren (3-0) enters its first true road test of the year after a 36-7 win over Franklin-Simpson last Saturday. Quarterback Gavin Spurrier completed 11-of-18 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns while running back Tryce Jackson tallied 74 yards and two scores on eight carries.

The Bruins (2-1) are coming off a 15-0 home loss to Christian Academy-Louisville on Friday.

South Warren is ranked No. 4 in Class 5A in the latest Kentucky Associated Press poll while Central Hardin is ninth in 6A.
