Record-setter: Franklin’s Wilson now Kentucky all-time leading scorer

He’s always been known as one of Kentucky’s most outstanding soccer players. Now he’ll be remembered forever.

Franklin-Simpson senior Caleb Wilson became the state’s all-time leading scorer Tuesday night after scoring seven goals in the Wildcats’ 10-0 win against Logan County.

Wilson, a four-year player for Franklin, has now scored 179 goals over the course of his high school career. On the 2017 season alone, Wilson has found the back of the net 31 times. He scored scored 58 goals last year, a state-leading 63 goals in 2015 and netted 27 times as a freshman in 2014.

Wilson’s new record passes the previous record of 176 goals scored by Marshall County’s Aaron Beth from 1985-89.

Franklin-Simpson is 7-5 overall, 5-0 in District 13 and now turns its attention to postseason play.
