KHSAA State Cheer Competition
This year it was a DOUBLE Dip for the 2017 KHSAA State Cheer Competition at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. For the first time, the State Competition was a Two-Day affair meaning twice as many teams competing for a hand full of trophies.
Day One (Friday) was GAMEDAY CHEER COMPETITION with only two Divisions and a whole lot of teams. Division One was labeled the LARGE Division which competed in the early session. Of the area teams in the 3rd, 4th and 5th Region Apollo finished in the top five with a fifth place finish with a score of 91.3.

The second session involved teams in the SMALL division with Bowling Green finishing in first place.

Saturday’s competitions included on the more traditional sense with two sessions. The first included teams in the Medium, Large and Small divisions. Only one area team finished in the top four with Bowling Green finishing 2nd in the Medium Division.

The late session included the Coed Divisions. There were four teams which finished in the Top Four in our area squads. The Coed divisions are usually the most interesting because the size of your teams usually indicates that the bigger and larger you go, the more difficulty in your routine in order to score big. There are usually more basket tosses and more complex routines involved. The smaller (All Girl ) squads are difficult because there are usually more teams because of the size of schools and therefore much more competition, which is why the Small Division usually has more teams.
