Coming off one of the best seasons for our team, I was looking forward to my Senior year. During winter conditioning, I could tell our team was working hard to get back to State. When tryouts came around, it was time for everyone to step up their games. Growing up with some of these girls some since 6U Rec ball I have loved playing with them over the years. On and off the field we have friendships and spend a lot of time together. Knowing this was my last year playing with my teammates it was going to be a special season.
February 18th was my official first practice as a senior and a practice I will never forget. Our first scrimmage just a month later came around and I could see the way our team was playing that we were determined to make another run at State. Shortly after that, the worst news hit us and the wait began. Day after day went by without softball and it killed us. All the hard work that we put in for our season to be up in the air and to not know when we would step on the field again. We didn’t give up, we all worked hard hoping we would get to play again.
Now that softball was on hold, we still had to finish up school. Having to switch from in class learning to all online was definitely something I would never want to do again. Online classes are not my thing! Although it was hard, I walked the line and graduated with honors.
Although my high school career didn’t end the way I wanted it to, I’m looking forward to what Campbellsville has to offer to me. I’m excited to start a new beginning pursuing a Nursing degree and continue to play softball as a Lady Tiger!
Bailey Richardson finished her high school career as one of the hardest hitting catchers in the 5th Region, but like her teammates was unable to finish what would have been Central Hardin’s opportunity to win a possible sixth straight Regional Title.
