- Barren County 7-4 1
Outlook: Despite losing three of its last four games, the Barren County Trojanettes are still the team to beat in the 4th Region. In fact, coach Piper Lindsey’s club is a perfect 6-0 against region competition. It’s hard to argue moving them off the top spot until a fellow 4th Region club knocks them off. Four teams will get their chance this week as the Trojanettes travel to Monroe County on Monday night before hosting Greenwood (Tuesday), Allen County-Scottsville (Friday), and Warren Central (Saturday).
2. Bowling Green 4-4 2
Outlook: The Lady Purples got back on the court this week after a thirteen-day hiatus. Coach Calvin Head’s club eased by Warren East before playing tight with state #5 Elizabethtown. Meadow Tisdale had a dominating performance against the Lady Raiders scoring 29 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. She also led the way against the Lady Panthers, scoring a game-high 13 points. Bowling Green will spend this week on the road with games at Clarksville Academy and Warren Central, as well as a neutral site game at Louisville Butler against George Rogers Clark in the Statewide Mortgage Valentine Shootout.
3. Greenwood 4-1 4
Outlook: Greenwood jumped the Lady Dragons of Warren Central in our power rankings this week as the Lady Gators beat South Warren at the buzzer, 67-65. Kayla Grant’s putback as time expired gave coach Zach Simpson’s club the district win. Leia Trinh scored a game-high 29 points to lead the Lady Gators. The club will visit 4th Region #1 Barren County on Tuesday before hosting South Warren on Friday in what will be a highly-anticipated rematch.
4. Warren Central 4-1 3
Outlook: Warren Central was able to play more games in Week 4 that it had all season long. Wins over Warren East (57-38) and Grayson County (62-50) were sandwiched around a close loss to South Warren (67-62). Saniyah Shelton has led the way for the Lady Dragons thus far, averaging 17 points per game and grabbing 9.5 rebounds. Kaylyn Keener is also in double figures at 10 points per game, while La Auhnni Lewis is knocking on the same door with 9.8 points per contest. Coach Anthony Hickey’s team will learn a lot about itself this week as it hosts #2 Bowling Green on Friday evening before traveling to #1 Barren County on Saturday night.
5. Metcalfe County 7-2 6
Outlook: Metcalfe County moves up to sixth in our latest rankings after a perfect 2-0 week to extend its winning streak to six games. The Lady Hornets finished off a season sweep of Clinton County before knocking off Casey County as well. Braelyn Davis averaged 19.5 points per game over the weekend, while Kassady London averaged 18 points per contest in the two victories. Coach Tiffany Coffey’s club will not be playing this week after having all three games canceled due to COVID-19. It is set to return on February 9 against #1 Barren County.
6. Monroe County 6-3 8
Outlook: Monroe County jumped two more spots in this week’s power rankings after securing 20+ point wins over Glasgow and Adair County. A four-point loss at Allen County-Scottsville also occurred, but the Lady Falcons are second in the 15th District behind Barren County. Paisley Ford continues to lead the squad at 12.2 points per game, while Ella Massingille averages 10.9 points per contest. Coach Clifton Hamilton and company hosts Clinton County on Friday night in its only game of the week. The Lady Bulldogs knocked off Monroe County in the 4th Region All “A” Classic on January 21.
7. South Warren 4-5 —
Outlook: South Warren makes its first appearance in the power rankings this season after knocking off Warren Central and blowing out Butler County last week. Coach Lane Embry’s club was a buzzer-beating putback away from a perfect 3-0 week. The Lady Spartans’ have vastly improved on offense over the last three games. After only averaging 45.3 points in the team’s first six games, South has improved to 68.7 points per contest over its last three games. Four players are averaging eight points per game, led by Gracie Hodges at 10.6 PPG and Karson Deaton at 10.5 PPG. The Lady Spartans host Logan County on Tuesday night before traveling to Greenwood for a Friday night showdown.
8. Allen County-Scottsville 4-7 —
Outlook: The Lady Patriots jumped into the rankings despite its seven losses in part because it picked up two big wins over Franklin-Simpson and Monroe County last week. Coach Greg Dunn’s crew lost six of its first seven games but have since won three of four. Allison Meador leads the way for ACS at 14.1 points per game and is grabbing 7.9 rebounds per contest. The Lady Patriots will jump back into district play this week with a home game with Glasgow and a road trip to Barren County.
9. Glasgow 3-4 7
Outlook: Glasgow lost both of its games last week, dropping games at Monroe County and at home to Barren County. Anzley Adwell continues to lead the Lady Scotties in scoring at 16.5 points and in rebounding at 10 per game. Coach Craig Pippen’s team will travel to Scottsville for a district game on Tuesday before hosting Caverna in an out-of-region matchup.
10. Franklin-Simpson 3-4 9
Outlook: The Lady Wildcats’ four losses are by a combined 15 points. Its two most recent losses were at ACS (45-43) and at Todd County Central (59-55 in OT). Kate Norwood paces Franklin at 16.7 points per game, while Alera Barbee is averaging 12.9 points and seven rebounds per contest. Coach Ashley Taylor’s club will look to right the ship with three home games in Week 5: Butler County, Logan County, and Cumberland County await the Lady Wildcats.
