Isaiah Mason, Bowling Green Senior

Hailed as the preseason 14th District Player of the Year, Isaiah Mason did not disappoint from the jump, leading the Bowling Green Purples to a 14th District championship, a 4th Region title, and a state quarterfinal berth. Because of his outstanding efforts, the Northern Kentucky-signee has been named the Sporting Times’ 14th District Player of the Year. Playing one of the state’s toughest schedules, Mason averaged 17.7 points per game to go with 7.4 rebounds. He shot a whopping 56% from the field and nearly 40% from three.

Aaron Brown, Greenwood Junior

Aaron Brown wasted no time getting acclimated to life in the 14th District, helping Greenwood back to the region title game for the first time since 2008. The junior averaged 12.5 points per game to go with 7.9 rebounds. Brown shot nearly 50% from the field and 65% from the free throw line.

Turner Buttry, Bowling Green Junior

The lasting memory from Turner Buttry’s junior season will be his three-quarters court heave in the opening round of the state tournament that made SportsCenter’s top ten plays of the day. However, the EKU-commit did much more this season on the hardwood. He averaged 14.9 points per game and joined the rare 50-50-90 club. Buttry shot 54% from the field, 51% from 3, and 93% from the free throw line.

Marc Grant, Greenwood Senior

Marc Grant also played a major role in leading the Greenwood Gators through their deep postseason run. The senior averaged 12.6 points per game on 40% shooting, while nailing 78 three-pointers at 36%. Grant led the 4th Region in three pointers made, while also shooting 77% from the charity stripe.

Cade Stinnett, Greenwood Junior

The district’s leading scorer, Cade Stinnett built upon an incredible sophomore season with an outstanding junior campaign. The Gator guard averaged 20.7 points per game on 56% shooting from the field. The junior grabbed 4.4 rebounds per game and shot 71% from the free throw line on 209 attempts. Stinnett broke the Greenwood single-game scoring record against Christian County in late February after dropping 41 points on the Colonels.

Cade Veltkamp, South Warren Junior

Cade Veltkamp led the Spartans in both scoring and rebounding at 9.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. The junior shot 50% from the field and helped South Warren to a 17-6 record in Jason Holland’s first season at the helm. Only a junior, Veltkamp will have the chance to lead the Spartans next season as the program seeks its first trip to the region tournament.

Chappelle Whitney, Warren Central Sophomore

Chappelle Whitney stood out amidst an extremely balanced and talented Warren Central Dragon club in 2021. The sophomore forward led the Dragons in both scoring and rebounding at 11.7 points and 7.9 rebounds. Whitney shot over 56% from the field and 66% from the free throw line. With deft footwork and an array of post moves, Whitney was a force in the paint for Central and will be looked upon to continue his solid play next season.
