Week Eight in Football

It was a week in which many of the area teams were on break, but there was some action on the gridion including the Bardstown Tigers continuing an epic start with a 64-12 beating of Marion County.

Their 7-0 start was highlighted by quarterback Brady Clark’s 7-of-9 passing for 193-yards and four touchdowns, while TJ Greenwell continued to pile up yards on the ground with an 114-yard effort and added a 84-yard touchdown catch and run. Tyleeq Williams caught three of Clark’s passes for 56-yards and a score and added 114 -yards on the ground as well. The Class A Tigers have ranked as high as No.1 in the polls and will face Thomas Nelson next.

Meanwhile just up the road, Bethlehem was also winning and they had a chance to get a little revenge against a District rival Holy Cross (Louisville) in a rematch of last year’s epic playoff game, but unlike last season’s game, it didn’t come down to a last play failed two point conversion as the Eagles took full control from start to finish in a 34-0 win. Bethlehem seized control scoring four times in the first half and built a 28-0 halftime lead and cruised from there. Zane Wickliffe ran for 99-yards, most coming off a 58-yard scoring run. LaDarion Montgomery also had a great game with 68-yards running and two scoring runs. Cooper Stone threw for 175-yards and 2-TDS. The Eagles will take their 6-1 start against Campbellsville.

John Hardin was the only Hardin County team that was in action that week and used a strong defensive effort to beat District Rival Moore, 14-0. Keyandre Strand scored the first touchdown with 8:23 left in the second quarter and Tre Brown scored with in the game. The Bulldogs will face Marion County next.
