POWER FIVE IN AREA BASKETBALL

TAYLOR COUNTY CARDINALS (17-3)- Coach Montrelle L. Irvin has built a strong contender and the Cardinals are led by Layken Lyons (354-points), Keeton Clements (293) and Jackson Wise (270). With Seventeen wins already to their credit, we will watch Taylor County as the season progresses with tests coming up against area teams like Elizabethtown and North Hardin.

ELIZABETHTOWN PANTHERS (12-6)- James Haire has continued to maintain a high standard of excellence despite the graduation of key scorers over the years and with Ayden Evans (278-points) manning the post leading the team in scoring and blocked shots, along with transfers Jujuan Williams (215-points) and Obian Howard from Florida (186-points), Elizabethtown has stayed close to the top in the 5th Region Rankings.

LARUE COUNTY HAWKS (12-6)- Paul Childress’ Hawks have continued to peak as the season comes to it’s close and should be the favorvite in the 18th District after a strong showing in the King of the Bluegrass with a win over reigning State Champ George Rogers Clark. Daniel Allen is having a strong season (368-points) along with Jagger Mardis (284-points) and Carson Childress (239-points) are getting ready for the second season.

CAVERNA COLONELS (16-6)- Steve Barker’s team is having a great season and with wins over Green County and Barren County look to continue their winning ways. Led by Meek Ater (316-points) and Jaylin Craine (313-points), the Colonels will have two key games with LaRue County coming up.

WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMANDERS (14-6)- Stephen Woodson is building something in Washington County and with young stars Beau Baker (274-points) , Noah Reynolds (267-points) and Gabriel Weis (204-points) should continue to improve as the season progresses.
