Prediction

Warren East enters the 2023 postseason hungry to win its first region championship since 2011. The Raiders reached the region final in 2022 and are favored to reach the finale again this spring. However, the first tournament on the schedule will be the 15th District event. Powered by Maddox Tarrence and his .443 average, East is also favored to win the district title in its inaugural season after moving from the 14th. Tray Price (5 HR) and Chase Carver (4 HR) are a threat to go yard every at-bat, while Carver leads the team on the mound with 48 strikeouts (at the time of publication).

The two-time defending district champions will be hungry to make it three in a row as the only 15th district team that defeated Warren East in the regular season. Glasgow’s ace, Brayden Emmitt, was 6-2 with 45 strikeouts and a 1.90 ERA when this preview was published. The senior pitched a complete game with zero earned runs in the Scotties’ 3-1 win over East in late April. Weston Carroll is batting .383 with 32 runs batted in to lead GHS at the plate.

After splitting the season series with Glasgow, Barren County will be looking to spoil the Scotties’ chances at another district title. Sutton Hyde leads the team in hits, RBI, doubles, and home runs, along with a .361 batting average. Joey Meyers  is 3-2 on the mound with a team-best 31 strikeouts and a 2.76 ERA.

Allen County-Scottsville’s Dusty Hayes is batting .333 with a team-leading 13 hits. Three Patriot pitchers have sub-3.50 ERAs, led by Eddy Chavez with a 2.80 ERA and only 12 earned runs on the season.

Champion – Warren East
