Legacy Christian Academy Eagles Capture Second Consecutive KCAA Tip Off Classic Championship

November 9, 2024 — Columbia, KY – The Legacy Christian Academy Eagles, led by Head Coach Shaun Cummings, have once again claimed victory at the Boys Varsity KCAA Tip Off Classic Basketball Tournament, marking their second consecutive championship win. The Eagles secured three consecutive wins in two days at Lindsey Wilson College, overcoming Summit Christian Academy, Bethel Christian Academy, and Galilean Christian Academy to seize the title.

Legacy faced Summit Christian Academy in the opening round, securing a hard-fought 47-38 victory. In the semifinal matchup against Bethel Christian Academy, the Eagles soared to a 66-52 win, setting up a rematch of last year’s final against Galilean Christian Academy. The Eagles defeated Galilean 64-40 to reclaim their title.

The Eagles’ charge was led by senior guard Cole Phillips, who averaged 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game throughout the tournament. Senior center Trace Stivers contributed significantly on both ends of the floor averaging 6 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 blocks per game. Freshman guard Mason Phillips also made a strong impact, averaging 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.

Recognized for their outstanding performances, both Trace Stivers and Mason Phillips were named to the All-Tournament Team, while Cole Phillips was named Tournament MVP.
