Lady Purples Score Big District Win, but Purples fall to Dragons

The crowd piled in to Bowling Green High School on Friday night, ready for two big district match ups.  Heading into the night, all four teams were undefeated in district play.

_MG_4485The ladies took the floor first, and Bowling Green jumped out to a big start, using the press to separate themselves from the Lady Dragons early.  Behind Oneisha Turner’s 21 points, the Lady Purples took a double digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back, winning 65-48.

Then the Purples and Dragons stepped up for the first match up of the season, and with a packed house, Warren Central opened up with a 10-3 lead, as Bowling Green struggled against the full court pressure.  The Purples answered back with a 13 point run of their own, before the first quarter ended with BG up 16-12._MG_4679
The Dragons would go on to outscore Bowling Green in each of the next 3 quarters, and even led by double digits late in the fourth quarter.  Bowling Green trailed by seven with a minute and a half left.  Then Clay Stivers and Tucker Sine teamed up to grab two quick steals and scores, bringing the game back within 3.  The Dragons answered by getting a free throw, and the Tucker Sine was fouled while shooting a 3 with only seconds to spare.
After making the first two, his only option was to miss the final free throw, and hope for a BG rebound to tie the game.  Unfortunately, his attempt to miss also banked in, The Dragons would go on to get two more free throws, and hold on for a 65-62 win.
The Purples are back in action on Tuesday night, traveling to Christian County High School to take on the Colonels.  Catch all the action right here on PurplesNation.com!
