The Purples took to the field for a little late night football, taking on Lexington Catholic in the Republic Bank Bowl. The Knight were loaded with plenty of seniors looking for their first win against Bowling Green, having been denied several times before.
They would be denied one more time.
A defensive battle in the first half, Bowling Green reached paydirt first with a touchdown pass from Campbell Gott to Cameron Wallace in the closing minutes of the first quarter. The Knights would answer back on their next drive, and the QB Ryan would run it in from six yards out to tie it up at seven apiece. Bowling Green would get one more score with a perfect two minute drive, and another Gott to Wallace connection, but missed the extra point. A penalty on the final play gave Lexington Catholic the chance for a field goal, but it was wide left, and we went into the locker up 13-7. 
The Purples looked as poised as squads from the past in the second, using four minutes in their first drive, resulting in the third TD reception by Cameron Wallace. Then it came down to defense and clock management, as the run game separated the two squads down the stretch. Ben Holt won the MVP, with 7 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Jacob Yates ran from over 120 yards and 2 scores, and Jamale Carothers neared the century mark, and scored the final points on a 21 yard run.
Bowling Green brings the win streak back home to the El next week, where they will take on St. X. Should be another exciting game, and you can catch it right here on PurplesNation.com!
