The Purples took to the road to close out their regular season, taking on last year’s 5A runner up in Pulaski County. Facing a roster depleted by injuries, Bowling Green looked to avoid the same fate before heading into the playoffs.
With rain coming in during the afternoon, the muddy field certainly slowed both offenses. Bowling Green was able to get the first score of the game, with Campbell Gott scrambling out of the pocket to find Dane Drobocky for the 26 yard TD pass. After a Jake Bush fumble recovery, the Purples put together a drive that would run into the second quarter, and conclude with a one yard Jamale Carothers TD run. After that score, the teams would exchange turnovers, as both would end the half with two turnovers apiece. The Purples would head into the locker room with a 14-0 advantage.
Both teams seemed content to keep it on the ground in the third quarter, and the score remained 14-0 after 3. Then with 8:30 remaining in the game, Jake Bush sacked Pulaski’s QB for a safety. The Purples would go on to score a TD on the next drive, with Jacob Yates punching it in from three yards out. Pulaski would get a kickoff return for a score late in this one, but the Purples hold on for the win 23-7.
