It just hasn’t been easy for Warren Central this year, but they’re finding ways to get through the tough times. The Dragons have had an extremely difficult struggle in their jump shooting and it would continue as Franklin-Simpson held an early 13-6 lead, keyed by 3-3 from beyond the arc from Wildcats guard Tony Lockhart. Central would score eight in a row and fight from a second quarter deficit to a five point lead. Just before the half, both teams would score, but a nice feed from Tristen Murray to Kobe Caldwell with two seconds left gave the Fighting Unselds a 29-22 lead at the intermission.
In the third quarter, Warren Central decided it was time to end the drama. Jared Savage had 7 of the first nine points scored in the third frame, including a three and a one handed jam off a turnover. It was the full court pressure and the relentless trap that put the Wildcats behind the eight ball and frustrated them to numerous turnovers, which led to easy buckets on the other end. The Dragons would extend to a 15 point lead, then 20, and eventually, the final buzzer would sound as it read Warren Central 61, Franklin-Simpson 32.
Up next for the Dragons, a boy/girl doubleheader on Friday against Warren East. STBN coverage begins just prior to tip of both games. The girls tip at 6 PM CT.
