Gators Move to 5-1 with win over Scotties

The Gators were back at the swamp Friday night to take on the Glasgow Scotties from 2A. The game was wet and fall was in the air. Xezayier Snorton got the Gators going late in the first quarter with an 18 yard touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead over the Scotties. Jackson Adams would get the first score of the second quarter for Greenwood with a 6 yard touchdown scamper to extend the lead to 14-0. Glasgow would finally answer back in the third quarter, with Dessi Austin completing a 37 yard touchdown pass to Ben Hughes. The extra point was blocked by Preston Fletcher to make the score 14-6 with 10:40 left in the third.

The Scotties would quickly answer back with Austin completing another passing touchdown, this time to wide receiver Gavin Burd for 5 yards. The two point conversion was no good, so Greenwood held the lead 14-12. The Gators imposed their will on the young Scotties in the fourth quarter. First Noah Pillow rushed for a 35 yard touchdown just 8 seconds in the fourth. Then Adams broke one open with 2:44 left in the game for 43 yards to make this one final, 28-12. Malcolm Johnson was the Bluegrass Cellular player of the game with an interception and plenty of tackles/big plays made. It was time for the defense to get some big recognition, as they were solid all night long. Greenwood (5-1) will start district play next week at Barren County (2-4).
