Gators Finish Regular Season with Stellar 8-2 Record

The end of the regular season has arrived, trick or treat! Greenwood looked to right the ship after a disappointing loss to district powerhouse Bowling Green last Friday night. This week’s opponent featured cross-town opponent from 4A Warren Central at the nice new stadium and Joe Hood Field. The Gators would strike first with a 15 yard touchdown run by Malcolm Johnson. A defensive first half that saw four total turnovers between both teams would keep that score the same going into halftime.

Jackson Adams would finally get in the end zone with a 20 yard scamper with 4:46 left in the third quarter to extend the Gators lead over the Dragons 14-0. Warren Central would finally answer with quarterback Chance Shanklin throwing a 24 yard pass to wide receiver Tristen Murray to cut the Gators lead to 14-6 after the missed extra point. Greenwood’s defense would hold onto the lead the rest of the second half and escape Warren Central (3-7) with a 14-6 victory to close the regular season out. The Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game goes to the Gators defense as a whole, as they recovered two fumbles and held the Dragons to just 6 points. Greenwood (8-2) will return to the swamp against Graves County next Friday night for the start of the playoffs.
