Purples Dominate in Early Season District Doubleheader

In our first broadcast of the ladies this season, Bowling Green put on quite a show.  Keely Morrow started the Lady Purple scoring, notching 11 points in the first half.  A late push at the end of the first quarter put Bowling Green up by nine.  They maintained that lead through the second quarter to take a 35-26 lead to the break.  Then it was the Oneisha Turner Show, as she took over in the second half.  The Lady Purples extended their lead to double figures to end the third, only to outscore the Lady Gators 21-12 in the fourth en route to a 75-55 victory!  Oneisha Turner had 20 points to lead the Lady Purples.  Keely Morrow had 13, and Markizjah Mimms reached double figures with 10.  The Lady Purples are 6-0 on the season.

The fellas also traveled across the city to take on Greenwood in a district opener. Thanks to a huge second quarter run, Bowling Green cruised by the Gators 85-61.Ayers
Things got chippy early on, with the Gators fouling early and often. On a early fast break, Senior Guard Thomas Booker hit the floor hard after a foul and went out with a wrist injury. Booker did not return.

The Gators kept it close early, only trailing 20-14 after the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter, the Purples took over. The Purples defense used a full court press to cause the Gators trouble. A 17-2 run created a cushion between the Purples and Gators, and the lead was extended to 49-25 at the half. Terry Taylor dominated the 1st half, nearly outscoring the Gators with 23 points at the break.
The two teams traded buckets throughout the 2nd half. Both teams went to their bench as the half went on. The Purples led 73-44 after 3 quarters and eventually won by a final score of 85-61. Terry Taylor led all scorers with 30 points while Kyran Jones added 24.
The Purples improve to 6-0(1-0 district) and are back in action on Friday in Louisville against Fern Creek in the King of the Bluegrass.
