Raiders, Lady Raiders pick up District Win

The Lady Raiders looked to grab their first district win of the season Friday night in a Homecoming game at home against Greenwood. The Lady Raiders would keep it close in the first half, trailing 18-15 at the half. Cailyn Howard led Warren East with 6. Rose Mary Jackson and Alexus Jessup led the Lady Gators with 6 each. The second half the Lady Gators would start to pull away, outscoring Warren East 23-11 in the third quarter. Forcing 6 turnovers in the quarter had a lot to do with that. In the fourth quarter the game would get away from Warren East, falling 56-36 to the Lady Gators. The shots just would not fall for Warren East, and 22 turnovers did them in as well. Alexus Jessup led Greenwood with 16 points. Erin Houchins was the Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game with 11 points. Warren East (1-11, 0-3 district) will return home next Friday night at 6 against Bowling Green. The Raiders looked to end a 3 game losing streak Friday night in a Homecoming game at home against Greenwood. The game would be close throughout. Warren East outscored Greenwood 18-15 in the first quarter. Kaleb Britt was the main reason why with 8 for the Raiders. Caleb Miller had 6 for the Gators. Going into the half up 28-21 sounded pretty good for the Raiders, as they continued their success on defense and in transition offense. Kaleb Britt had 12 to lead the Raiders. Miller had 8 to lead the Gators. Even though Greenwood outscored Warren East 40-36 in the second half, the Raiders won the game 64-61. Forcing 17 turnovers and having a balanced offense sure helped with the victory. The Gators were led by Miller with 24. Kaleb Britt was the Bluegrass Cellular Player of the Game for the Raiders with 25 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
