Jax Allen, Metcalfe County Senior
Named the Sporting Times’ 16th District Player of the Year, Jax Allen helped lead the Metcalfe County Hornets to their second district championship in three seasons. The EKU signee led the 16th District with 20.6 points per game, hitting 145 free throws on the season at 77%. He also led the team in rebounding at 7.6 per game. Allen went off for 26 and 14 in the district title victory over Monroe County.
Wyatt Blythe, Metcalfe County Senior
Wyatt Blythe averaged 16.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this season for Metcalfe County. The senior led the team with 54 three-pointers and saved arguably his best performance for the final game of the year. Blythe scored 25 points and hit three three-pointers as the Hornets nearly knocked off Barren County in the region quarterfinals.
John Harlin, Monroe County Senior
John Harlin helped engineer an outstanding season on the hardwood for the Falcons of Monroe County who reached the 4th Region Tournament for the first time since 2018. The senior averaged 14.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
Zachery Harwood, Cumberland County Sophomore
Zachery Harwood capped off his sophomore season averaging 11.5 points on 50% shooting from the field. He also grabbed 8.6 rebounds per game for the Panthers. In a midseason win over Somerset Christian, Harwood led the way with 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Owen Loy, Russell County Junior
Owen Loy led the Lakers in scoring this season at 13.5 points per game. The junior shot 41% from the field and hit 40 three-pointers. In a late-season win over Rockcastle County, Loy hit three three-pointers and went 8-for-11 from the line en route to 21 points.
Cannon Young, Clinton County Sophomore
Cannon Young led the Bulldogs in scoring this season with 13.3 points per game on 55.2% shooting. He also led the club with 6.7 rebounds as Clinton had another winning season in Coach Nick Irwin’s first season at the helm. In a midseason win over Glasgow, Young had 21 points and 8 rebounds to help Clinton County defeat the Scotties.
