Area’s Best Head to Lexington to face top teams across the Commonwealth

  1. South Warren Lady Spartans 17-2 (1)

Outlook: The Lady Spartans have won six straight, outscoring opponents 71-4 over the last two weeks. In a 16-2 win over Greenwood, South Warren scattered 20 hits en route to victory while three different three players tallied three RBI each. Coach Kelly Reynolds’ team travels to Lexington this weekend to participate in the Lafayette Five-Star General Tournament where it will take on some of the state’s best teams.

Week 7 Schedule: at Bowling Green (Tuesday), Lexington Catholic, Christian County, & Great Crossing (Saturday at Lafayette)

  1. Barren County Trojanettes 17-1 (3)

Outlook: Barren County dropped its first game of the season in Week 6 at Butler County, but the Trojanettes rebounded with two impressive victories over teams in our ST Top Ten. Pitcher Chloe Witcher is having an outstanding season on the mound with a 15-1 record. The eighth grader has struck out 146 batters in 94 innings and has an ERA of 1.19. Coach Daryl Murphy’s club will also be traveling to Lexington for the Lafayette Five-Star General Tournament this weekend.

Week 7 Schedule: Logan County (Friday), Breathitt County & DuPont Manual (Saturday at Lafayette)

  1. Greenwood Lady Gators 10-7 (2)

Outlook: Since our last poll, the Lady Gators have lost three games against three teams ranked in the state’s top ten. Greenwood (currently ranked ninth in the state coaches’ poll) lost one-run games to #1 Ballard and #8 Madisonville-North Hopkins. Kayden Murray has struck out 111 batters in 59.2 innings and has compiled a 6-3 record with an ERA of 1.17.

Week 7 Schedule: Warren Central (Tuesday), Butler County (Thursday), at Muhlenberg County (Saturday)

  1. Allen County-Scottsville Lady Patriots 11-7 (7)

Outlook: The Lady Patriots picked up an 11-7 win over Warren East to move into second place in the 15th District standings. Addison Ausbrooks has led the club on the mound, posting a 6-2 record in eight starts with 42 strikeouts and a 2.32 ERA. Allen County-Scottsville will test themselves against some of the state’s best this weekend in the Lafayette Five-Star General Tournament.

Week 7 Schedule: at Warren East (Tuesday), Westmoreland, TN (Thursday), Scott County & Lafayette (Saturday at Lafayette)

  1. Warren East Lady Raiders 16-10 (4)

Outlook: Warren East dropped two district games early in Week 6 but rebounded with two victories over Franklin-Simpson and Trinity Whitesville. The Lady Raiders currently have three players batting better than .400 with Madison Hymer (.494), Lydia Jones (.433), and Haylie Brasel (.406) each hitting at an elite clip.

Week 7 Schedule: Allen County Scottsville (Tuesday), Glasgow (Thursday)

  1. Logan County Lady Cougars 11-8 (6)

Outlook: Logan County competed in the Kentucky 2A State Tournament this past weekend, losing to the Christian Academy of Louisville and defeating Perry County Central. Shayla Johnson and Emerson McKinnis were named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances on the field. The Lady Cougars sit atop the 13th District standings midway through the regular season.

Week 7 Schedule: Franklin-Simpson (Tuesday), at Barren County (Friday), Webster County & Owensboro (Saturday)

  1. Russellville Lady Panthers 13-9 (5)

Outlook: Russellville will look to right the ship in Week 7 after losing six of eight in early April. The Lady Panthers picked up two wins this past weekend, and they will look to continue the streak with a big week culminating with games in the All-A Classic on Saturday in Owensboro.

Week 7 Schedule: at Todd County Central (Tuesday), Bowling Green (Thursday), vs. Bracken County & Lexington Christian (Saturday in Owensboro)

  1. Clinton County Lady Bulldogs 13-9 (9)

Outlook: The Lady Bulldogs have won four of their last five games, including an 8-6 victory over Warren East on Monday night. Aubrie Messer  nearly hit for the cycle in the win, going 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, and three runs knocked in as Clinton County picked up arguably its most impressive W of the season.

Week 7 Schedule: Cumberland County (Tuesday), at Metcalfe County (Thursday), Glasgow (Friday)

  1. Cumberland County Lady Panthers 10-10 (NR)

Outlook: Cumberland County started April by winning ten of its first twelve, but the Lady Panthers have since lost three straight. Coach Rian Craft’s club sits in first place in the 16th District standings however; the team is currently 5-0. They play second-place Clinton County on Tuesday looking to extend its lead in th 16th.

Week 7 Schedule: at Clinton County (Tuesday), Russell County (Thursday), at Adair County (Friday)

  1. Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats 9-13 (8)

Outlook: Franklin-Simpson has won four of its last six games, including two against district foe Todd County Central. Kloie Smith is ranked among the state leaders in home runs (6) and RBI (30) midway through the season. Allie Utley is batting .433 for the Lady Wildcats, who have a huge district showdown with Logan County on Tuesday night.

Week 7 Schedule: at Logan County (Tuesday), at Edmonson County (Thursday), at Bowling Green (Friday)
