Bowling Green Braves the Cold and Rain to Get the Season Sweep

With Winter Weather threatening, Bowling Green made their way out to South Warren, looking for the season sweep.  B52H4738

Three pointers were plentiful in the first game of the night, as BG and South Warren combined for 8 treys in the first half.  When the dust had settled, The Lady Purples lead 27-20.  The Lady Purples continued to lead the remainder of the game, though South Warren was able to make it close a couple of times.  Bowling Green made their free throws late and won big 51-37.
The offenses were not as prolific in the second game, at least to start off.  Bowling Green just could not find a rhythm offensively, and trailed 20-23 at the half.  The Purples never let the game get away from them, but the Spartans kept the lead until about 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter.  From then on, it was a back and forth affair.  Bowling Green had a three point lead in the final seconds of regulation, but Austin Bybee knocked down a three to send us into overtime!  The first overtime was ripe with suspense, as each time only scored one basket, and we went into a second overtime tied at 50.  It came down to the final minute once again, as Clay Stivers made his first basket of the night with 10 seconds left to put the Purples up by one, then stopped the Spartan advances to get the win 55-50!  Joe Ayers recorded 9 blocks in the contest, and was named our TFC Player of the game!
Bowling Green is off until Saturday, when he head to the swamp to take on Greenwood.  Catch all the action right here on PurplesNation.com!!
