Bowling Green Faces the Cold to Take on Christian County, Stivers Drains 20

With snow cancelling many of the games in the area on Tuesday night, Bowling Green hit the road for a double header with Christian County.  On paper, the odds favored Bowling Green, but the folks from Hopkinsville had a few surprises.

The Lady Purples took to the floor first, and it seemed to be routine for Bowling Green as they jumped out to an early 8-1 lead.  The Lady Colonels answered back with a 17 point run that stretched into the second quarter, building a lead they would not relinquish until the 4th quarter.  Makayla Gray and Oneisha Turner a late game comeback with a 12 point run to take the lead, but the Lady Purples couldn’t close the door in regulation, and we went into overtime.  Christian County scored the final 11 points of the game to win 63-59.
B52H4624Bowling Green mixed up their starting lineup tonight, putting Cheivy McCutchen on the floor to start the game, and it paid off big time as he put in 10 points in the first half, teaming up with Nacarius Fant who had 12 to give the Purples a 32-28 lead.  Bowling Green focused more on the inside game in the second half, as Clay Stivers and Tucker Sine gave the Purples a boost to start the third quarter, where they outscored the Colonels 23-10.  Bowling Green continued to cruise in the fourth quarter to a substantial 77-55 win on the road. Clay Stivers was named Total Fitness Connection Athlete of the Game.
