kalen_kimberland_mediumThe Bowling Green Hornets, led by Head Coach and General Manager, Nathan Thompson, have completed their 2014 roster with the signing of former 2013 NAIA 2nd-team All-American from Lindsey Wilson College, Kalen Kimberland. The electrifying 6-0 guard, averaged 12.8 points per game for the Blue Raiders last season, and will join fellow former teammates Chase Spreen, Wes Hanspard, and DeAntra Scott on the 2014 Hornets roster. Maurice HamptonThe Bowling Green Hornets and Head Coach Nathan Thompson have announced Maurice Hampton (“Squeaky”) as their team captain for the 2014 season. Hampton, known locally as the hometown star, led Russellville High School to two state tournaments and received first-team Kentucky All-State honors in 2002. He then proceeded to play collegiately all four seasons (2002-06) with Austin Peay State University where he finished his excellent career, scoring 1,320 points (15th in school history) and ranking 5th all-time in career three-pointers. From there, he took advantage of his opportunities to play 7 successful years in Europe from 2007 to 2013, including stints in the Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Greece, Cyprus, and most recently, Israel. Furthermore, to honor his career success, Russellville High School will be inducting Hampton in to the school’s Hall of Fame this upcoming Friday night.

Hampton, who played several games late last season for the Hornets, is looking to use this upcoming Hornets season to not only reconnect better with his hometown community, but also groom the next generation of young athletes who are aspiring to advance their playing careers. Furthermore, the long-time chemistry between Coach Thompson and Hampton should provide for a very entertaining and thrilling 2014 season on and off the court.
