Bowling Green opens District Play with a Pair of Wins

IMG_1925Bowling Green hosted South Warren to open up district play on Friday night, and the home squads held serve with a pair of victories.
The Lady Purples opened up the night, and it was back and forth for the first half, as Bowling Green led 24-21 at the break.  The Lady Purples used a 11-3 run in the third to take a 10 lead into the final quarter, and was able to withstand a flurry of Spartan 3’s to get the 52-48 victory.  Keely Vincent was impressive on offense, leading the Lady Purples with 23 points.
Then the Purples took to the floor, and wasted no time in showing that their 9 game win streak was for real.  Bowling Green started the game with an 11 point run fueled by Tucker Sine’s five points on the first two possessions.  The Spartans rallied behind Zach McDaniel, and it was a five point game at the end of the first.  But South Warren’s shooting ran cold in the second, only scoring one field goal before the half, and the Purples led 33-18.  The Spartans did outscore Bowling Green in the third quarter, but the Purples pulled away late to the 64-43 victory.  Nacarius Fant paced the Purples with 16 points.
Our next broadcast is Saturday night, as Bowling Green takes part in the Bluegrass Cellular New Years Classic against John Hardin.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7PM Central time right here on PurplesNation.com!
