Bulldogs Work Overtime to Beat Panthers!!!!
Maybe it wasn’t the most important game, although for the Elizabethtown Panthers a chance to nab the 3rd seed with a win over John Hardin in their second 17th District meeting, but you can argue that after falling behind early, Devonta Guillory get very interested late. The Bulldogs were blitzed by the Panthers and fell behind 33-19 at the half, but a furious rally in the second half forced an overtime period and the senior guard took over hitting a three as the overtime period began as John Hardin took a 69-62 win and swept the regular season series. The Bulldogs, who were playing from behind most of the game finally took a lead with about three minutes remaining in regulation at 49-47 on junior Mickey Pearson’s putback. Elizabethtown responded with Tyler Durbin’s three and then a pair of free throws to make it 55-51 Panthers, but after Pearson’s layup and a Durbin free throw, Guillory hit a three to tie it with 00:03 remaining in regulation. After that, John Hardin took over with Guillory’s three and junior Anthony Witherspoon’s eight points in the overtime period to finish Elizabethtown off. The win put the Bulldogs in the 2nd seed of the upcoming District Tournament where they will face Central Hardin later in the month, while Elizabethtown will occupy the fourth seed and will most likely face Fort Knox in the opening round and if they advance would play the top seed North Hardin.
