The Case for LaRue County Football

The Case for LaRue County Football

Another football season is about to start and the LaRue County Hawks are ready. They have a new (old) coach, a slew of talented seniors and high expectations. Under coach Josh Jaggers, the Hawks return a strong passing game under senior quarterback Dane Milby. Although he was recovering from some arm soreness after the baseball season, Milby should be ready to go after coming off a 1,368-yard year in 2016 on 103-completions and 9-tds.

Milby will still have a pretty good group to throw to in senior Kane Harris, Nathan Helm, Shane King, junior Daillis cox and Jax Boley.

The running game will benefit from junior Jacob Cundiff, Tucker Sheldon and Dalton Underwood anchoring the offensive line punching out holes for last year’s 1,000-yard runner in Bryson Cobb and Anthony Adkins. The defense, which did allow over 300-points should be better with several starters returning.

Even the schedule shapes up a bit in 2017 with five teams on the radar with winning records last season, but there will still be challenges in Class 3-A with games with Elizabethtown, Adair County and Thomas Nelson. Also, out of area challengers like Bethlehem and Campbellsville. Perhaps one game coach Jagger has already mentioned was the season-opener at Marion County. A 2-win team much like LaRue County last season, but in the last several games began to put together an offense.

With the season opener approaching soon, all of Hawk Nation can’t wait to see what happens next.
