Classic Battle Warren East falls short against the Patriots

The Warren East Raiders were in a back-and-forth affair with district opponent ACS Friday night. After taking a 14-7 lead at halftime, the Patriots came storming back to win 28-21 and break the hearts of the hopeful Raider fans.

The scoring started with ACS, a 15-yard TD run by Jaylon McPeak, but Warren East  took control after that. 14 unanswered by the Blue and Gold gave the Raiders the lead at halftime. The first score, a 26-yard TD pass from Chauncey Greer to Patrick Satterfield, and the 2nd, a 7-yard TD rush by Satterfield.

With the lead and with momentum, the Raiders came out flat in the 2nd half. ACS scored 21 points in the 3rd to the Raiders 7 points in the quarter. Chase Wilson, QB for ACS, came out on fire, scoring 3 total TDs in the 3rd. Chauncey Greer hooked up with Caleb Huskey for a 38-yard touchdown. As the dust settled at the end of the 3rd, ACS led 28-21. east-1

Neither team scored in the 4th, the Raiders had one last possession with under 1 minute to try and tie the game, but an interception ended all the Warren East’s hopes. The Raiders committed 18 penalties for 104 yards, which was a big reason why Warren East’s upset bid was unsuccessful.

The Raiders advance to 2-5 on the season and will next play @ South Warren on Oct. 7th. ACS advances to 4-3 and will next play @ Franklin Simpson.
