Clinton County advances to All “A” State Championship

The Bulldogs pulled off another fantastic win over the Evangel Christan Eagles. The Bulldogs had some injuries along the way, Blake Melton went out in the first quarter with a significant ankle injury, they are still waiting on the results, but they think it is not good. Melton did not return to the game. He was 3-6 on shots from behind the arc and was leading the team in points with 11. The Bulldogs rallied for their injured teammates, and earned the right to play for the Kentucky All “A” Classic State Championship.

“It was a big time win for our kids,” coach Messer said after the game “Other than ourselves, and our community, a lot of people had already written us off. You can’t get Catholic (Owensboro Catholic), they are not gonna get Murray, and they sure are not getting Christan (Evangel Christan). Well we got all three of them, and we have a chance tomorrow to go win a title.” To say the very least I think coach Messer is fired up and ready for this opportunity.

The Bulldogs were led by Nick Brown, and Blake Melton (who did not even play the whole first quarter) they both had 11 points. Nick Brown along with his points had 9 rebounds, and went 4-4 from the free throw line. Nick Delk had 10 points, and 8 rebounds.Bryson Cross hit the free throws at the end of the game to make it a two point game, and would go on to give Clinton County the win. Cross went 2-3 from the free throw line, and had 4 assists. Chase stines had 3 steals.

The stats do not do the justice for Clinton County. They had to stop two out of bounds plays at the very end to win the game. Held a 6 foot 10 player who on the defensive end had 8 blocks, to 6 points. Coach Messer said he told his kids in the locker room “coach is not satisfied, there is one more game that has to be won.”
