Butler County’s Embry signs with Campbellsville Football

Butler County senior Blake Embry signed to play college football at Campbellsville University on National Signing Day. The wide receiver/cornerback had a great season for the Bears, catching 26 passes for 665 yards and 7 touchdowns while totaling 36 tackles on the other side of the ball. Campbellsville, who is projected to be ranked in the Top 15 in the NAIA this fall, was Embry’s top choice. He chose the school over Missouri University of Science and Technology and Lindsey Wilson, among others.

Greenwood’s Spalding signs with Lincoln Trail Baseball

Greenwood senior Bryce Spalding signed to play college baseball with Lincoln Trail Community College on January 14. The first baseman/pitcher/outfielder will further his career on the diamond in Robinson, Illinois. Spalding has been a major cog in the Gators’ lineup over the last three seasons and hopes to continue his success this spring. Since Spalding’s freshman season of 212, Greenwood has won 63 games, including a 28-9 record during his sophomore campaign. The Lincoln Trail signee was a part of the Gators’ 14-game win streak in 2013 capped off with an appearance in the 4th Region semifinals. Spalding hopes to have another successful season with the Gators in 2015 before heading to Illinois to further his career.

Logan’s Coursey heads to Lindsey Wilson

Kaleb Coursey has signed to continue his football playing career at the collegiate level by signing with Lindsey Wilson College. The senior inked with the Blue Raiders on February 10 at Logan County High School. Coursey led the Cougars in 2014 with 21 catches for 332 yards, leading the team in receptions, receiving yards, touchdown receptions, and yards per game. On defense, the cornerback picked off two passes (tops on the team) and registered 20 solo tackles and 26 total takedowns. Coursey, who also plays basketball for Logan County, will begin his career with the Columbia-based school this fall.

Greenwood’s Locke signs with Spalding Soccer

Greenwood senior Lauren Locke signed to play college soccer with Spalding University after a successful career on the pitch with the Lady Gators. The defender played an important role on the GHS backline while scoring seven goals with fifteen assists to help lead Greenwood to four region finals appearances from 2011 to 2014. Locke was also named to the All-Region team in each of the past three seasons to go along with All-District honors in consecutive years. She was honored all four seasons as a member of the Academic All-State first team and chose Spalding over Transylvania and Campbellsville.
