Peyton Dial, Metcalfe County Junior
Named the Sporting Times’ 16th District Player of the Year, Peyton Dial helped lead the Metcalfe County Hornets to their first district championship in 20 years. The junior guard averaged 14.6 points per game, splashing in 67 three-pointers, and grabbing nearly five rebounds per contest. In arguably the biggest game of the season, Dial scored 19 points – including four big three-pointers – to clinch the district title over Clinton County.
Nick Brown, Clinton County Senior
Nick Brown averaged 11.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as Clinton County won 20 games despite a COVID-shortened season that saw countless games canceled. The senior guard was the Bulldogs’ best outside shooter, making 36 triples at 36%. Brown was also second on the team in free throw percentage at 80%, making all five attempts while scoring 26 points in a crucial district tournament win over Cumberland County.
Nick Delk, Clinton County Junior
Nick Delk helped engineer an outstanding season on the hardwood for the Bulldogs of Clinton County. The junior averaged 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds, both tops on the team. Delk shot 59% from the field (first on the team) and 33% from beyond the arc (second). He scored 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting in the All-A state championship game against St. Henry.
Scott Hamm, Russell County Senior
Scott Hamm capped off his senior season averaging 13.7 points on 60% shooting from the field. He also grabbed 8.4 rebounds per game for the Lakers. In an early season win over Cumberland County, the Berea College-commit scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, while eclipsing the 1,000-point mark for his career.
Jay Milburn, Russell County Junior
Jay Milburn led the Lakers in both scoring and rebounding this season at 13.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. The junior shot 47% from the field and hit 24 three-pointers, third on his team. In a late season win over Glasgow, Milburn led Russell County with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Despite being listed as a guard, Milburn’s ability to score and rebound were on full display this season.
Ty Seay, Cumberland County Junior
Ty Seay led the 16th District in scoring this season at 20.9 points per game. The junior guard shot 44% from the field, made 41 three-pointers, and shot 82% from the charity stripe. In the final game of the regular season, Seay did battle with Mason Shirley and Jax Cooper of Allen County-Scottsville and scored 28 points, going 10-for-10 from the free throw line.
