Dragons 75 Spartans 43

Warren Central looked to continue their winning ways, coming off the biggest win of their season on Friday against Bowling Green, on the road at South Warren. The first quarter was a bit of a struggle but the Dragons still led it 18-11 behind seven points from Purples transfer Tristen Murray. South Warren rotated ten guys in within the first eight minutes, including some faces we haven’t seen much of to this point in the season.

The second quarter saw Coach William Unseld’s trademark perimeter and open-court defense create plenty of trouble for the Spartans, leading to a Warren Central explosion. At the half, they led it 35-22. Kobe Caldwell was the game’s leading scorer with 12. Both teams were sloppy with the basketball, sometimes due to the opposing defense but more often than not a lack of patience in the open floor.

The Dragons wanted to put the nail in the coffin in the third quarter and certainly kept up the pressure, leading 50-35 entering the fourth quarter. In the final stanza, Warren Central left no doubt, cruising to a 75-43 victory. Caldwell’s 18 led all scorers and Murray had 13. Dayton Gumm finished with 15 in the loss for SW.
